I am
repurposing the Christmas card messages I've written since 2001. From old
Christmas cards to new blog posts. One a day. Merry Christmas.
My biggest news is that I’m quitting my day job at the end of 2003! I’m going into business for myself, which, as all of you who are already there will attest—is going from a day job to a day-and-night job.
My new
writing and editing business is Wiseman Communications. My business-card
slogan, “Clear, Concise, Correct.” (I’m demonstrating the concise part in this
tiny corner of our “joint” card, but who’s measuring . . . )
In August I reunioned with my
1963 high-school class. As I continue to communicate with my old friends and
“get acquainted” after 40 years, I am gaining valuable insights (at least
as good as near-drowning epiphanies). Getting to know grown-ups whom you knew
at age 8 and 13 and 18—what an opportunity to see how life works! The timid
become self-assured; the confused see clearly; the awkward become graceful; the
gauche stay that way and get a PhD; the witty (well, Roger and I, anyway)
continue droll. Everyone gains wisdom and perspective (even the PhDs).
The “reunion experience” is continuing for me, and I hope to write more about
it—even before the next Christmas card!
Love to all.
Marian, this is a really terrific idea. These did make me smile, and occasionally laugh, and it's not a bit too hard to comment! See you back here tomorrow.
